About perspective collection

A collection of simple symbols was created with black liner and watercolor. Most of them were drawn without anything concrete in mind but resulted from playing with geometry tools on a math paper. Other drawings in this collection came from a meditation session.

“Perspectives” reflects the multiple interpretations of these drawings. Each viewer will see something different, depending on their interests, repetitive thoughts, and imagination.

This collection was exhibited in Brașov in 2023. Visitors were invited to create a story with each symbol by answering the following questions: “What does this shape express to you?”; “What perspective do you have on the drawing?”; “If you allow yourself, what will the mind create with the shapes in the drawing?”

After the exhibition, I noticed that gazing longer at a drawing evokes a particular mood, as confirmed by several people. So, dear observer, once you choose a drawing from this collection that captivates you, I invite you to reflect: What thoughts arise in your mind? What emotions begin to surface in your body?

What does the artist see in this image?

There was a time when this symbol “followed me”. The octagon is a symbol in many religions and has many meanings. Usually, it brings good fortune, wards off evil, or balances the space. In sacred geometry, it represents the marriage between the circle and the square, the feminine with the masculine, the heaven and the earth, it’s a symbol of unity. I’ve seen it in different countries and cultures, on old houses or on the pavement before entering a house, on traditional scarves and rugs.

I was inspired to make the yellow stripes, which give the impression that the octagon emanates light as if the center were a lighthouse.
